Five minutes
from the lifts.
Mountains outside your window. A heated pool when you get back. And a warm welcome when you come home. Family-run, in the middle of Chantemerle.
From breakfast to the slopes.
Out of the front door, up through the village, and you are at the Ratier gondola in about five minutes. No shuttle bus, no drive, no queue for a car park at half past eight.
- The walk
- About five minutes through Chantemerle, in ski boots, carrying skis.
- The lift
- Ratier takes you straight up into the Serre Chevalier ski area.
- Coming back
- The same walk, downhill, with the ski room and the pool waiting.
A guest, not a room number.
Lynne and her team have run Plein Sud for years, and it shows in the way the place works rather than the way it looks. Skis go in the ski room, wet things dry overnight, and someone at the desk always knows which lifts are turning and where the snow is.
This is a little hotel in a very big winter. It is not a resort complex, and it does not pretend to be one.

Plain, warm and properly sized for people who intend to be outside all day. Ask for a south-facing room with a balcony if the view matters to you — most of them are.

Ski all day. Swim when you get back.
The covered pool is reached directly from inside the hotel and held between 25 and 27 °C all winter. Unlimited use during your stay.
Pool & relaxation
Your playground starts here.
Four villages, one of the largest linked ski areas in France, and a valley built around the mountain rather than the other way round. Plein Sud sits in the middle of it, in Chantemerle, a few streets from the gondola.
Explore the valleyDinner at Bruno's.
The hotel restaurant, open five evenings a week to residents and non-residents alike. À la carte: take three courses, four or five. The menu is built so you can stop wherever you like, and it changes with what the valley has that week.
Open 8am to midnight, residents and non-residents. A proper selection of gins and whiskies, local Génépi, and mulled wine and hot chocolate at lunchtime for anyone coming off the hill early.
Dinner runs Monday to Friday. Weekend evenings are quiet on purpose, and the village has good places to walk to. Call the hotel to reserve.
